Irving mobile app maker raises $8.5 million to make online shopping even easier – The Dallas Morning News

Vajro Inc., an Irving-based technology firm that boasts its mobile app platform can help e-commerce store owners create Android and iOS apps in 60 minutes or less, will use an $8.5 million investment to enhance features and tap into new e-commerce platforms.

Vajro, launched in 2018 and now with 150 employees, said Monday that the funding comes from Five Elms Capital, a Kansas City-based private equity firm that invests in business-to-business software companies.

According to Vajro, more than 2,000 brands have chosen its mobile app builder to accelerate sales growth on e-commerce sites like Shopify. It cited SimplyMe Boutique, which grew its mobile app revenue 10-fold in 12 months, and Beautique, which made $86 for every $1 spent with Vajro, as examples.

“Most e-commerce stores are optimized for desktop web traffic while 80 percent of traffic is coming from mobile devices,” said Daniel Bjornson of Five Elms Capital. “Vajro solves this problem by reducing the friction of traditional mobile commerce, quickly and effectively.”

The mobile app platform doesn’t require writing code and lets e-commerce sellers make changes without needing to update their app each time.

Vajro CEO Baskar Agneeswaran said the investment will allow the company to integrate its platform with other e-commerce sites, such as WooCommerce and Magento.
