Manda Mobile Ugandas new MVNO

Manda Mobile is a new digital service that offers customers a differentiated experience focusing on data as a means to access services, communicate and get support and use MTN Mobile Money as a payment and recharge method. The company inherits the orange colour scheme in its brand that Africell Uganda and Orange Uganda.

Technically, Manda Mobile functions as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). As a result, it relies on MTN Uganda’s 3G and 4G data networks to provide telecommunications services. The most significant contract for an MVNO is to rely on others to provide its core services, which comes at a considerable cost to pay a significant portion of revenues to associated telecommunications.

A MVNO will enter into a business relationship with a mobile network operator to gain massive access to network services at higher rates and then independently set lower prices. An MVNO can use its customer service, billing support systems, personal marketing and sales, or it can use the services of a mobile virtual network enabler (MVNE).

This is not the first MVNO in Uganda: K2 already has a deal of this type with Airtel Uganda. In July 2018, Airtel Uganda took to its official Facebook page to announce the brand sponsorship deal with K2 Telecom. K2 Telecom subscribers were assigned a code “0708”, which belongs to Airtel’s former “wife”, Warid Telecom.

Unlike K2, Manda Mobile’s association with MTN Uganda secures most MTN services. Users can obtain a Manda SIM card from any Manda agent. It does cost UGX 5,000. After purchasing the SIM card, download the Manda app to activate your data and voice minutes. The only offer that the company has is 300 MB for UGX 1,000 valid for 3 days for mobile data rates and we hope that more data packages will be added in the future.

It should be noted that the Manda app is owned by MTN Group, which means that it is just a reduced version of the myMTN app and is available in the iOS and Android app stores. Manda Mobile is new and very little is known about this telecommunications company with online and physical presence.

Where can you buy a Manda Mobile Sim Cards

A SIM card costs UGX 5,000 and must be purchased from an authorized Send agent with your original national identity. You can get a Manda agent in the whole country at the Manda brand stores and kiosks.

Manda Sim Card Prefix

Bear in mind that the SIM Manda cards have the same prefix as the prefix MTN Uganda. These are numbers 077xxx, 078xxx, 031xxx and 039xxx.

How to recharge your Manda Sim Card

You can recharge your SIM card through the Manda mobile application, which is currently available in the iOS application store for as long as or daily *146# on your MTN number and recharge your Manda SIM cards with your required data.
