Motorola Edge 30 Ultra 200 Megapixel Smartphone
Today’s smartphone users make up our thriving photography community and are our eyes to the world. Whether artists, journalists or passionate smartphone camera users, they inform us through social media and other media channels and put our world in the larger context of the present and the past.
Motorola has passionately created the next generation smartphone with superior camera quality for individuals who want incredible quality images for themselves or for sharing.
200MP Camera Module
Clearly, the headline here is the monstrous 200MP camera module on the back – an industry first – which focuses light through an F1.9 aperture onto a relatively large 1/1.22-inch sensor and benefits from of optical image stabilization. Motorola has promised a clear brighter image even when its dark, their technology combines 16 small pixels into a large 2.5µm Ultra Pixel for capturing more light.
In addition to massive image cropping, the camera will also allow 8K UHD video recording at 30 frames per second, or 4K UHD video at up to 60 fps and 960 fps in slow motion in FHD. The main camera is accompanied by a 50 MP ultra-wide angle (with macro capabilities) and a 12 MP telephoto portrait lens with a narrow depth of field for beautiful pictures.
Selfie camera on the front
The selfie camera on the front is no less impressive with an unreal 60 megapixels for 4K video at 30 fps. That front camera is perforated on top of the Ultra’s nearly bezel-less 6.67-inch 2400 x 1080 OLED display, which has a 144Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch response, and a maximum brightness of 1,250 nits. There is support for 10-bit colour, HDR10+ and the DCI-P3 colour gamut, as well as Snapdragon Elite Gaming.
IP52 Splash Resistant
The IP52 splash resistant handset features durable Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back with a sandblasted aluminium frame in the middle. Inside is Qualcomm’s latest and greatest mobile platform, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, and the Ultra can be purchased with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
Two large Dolby Atmos speakers with next level spatial sound experience that takes advantage of the state of the art sound technology to connect users more deeply with their favourite content. And while many users will likely opt for private listening via Bluetooth 5.2, those who prefer a wired connection only get USB-C.
Browsing and Streaming
Browsing and streaming is made easy by 5G and Wi-Fi 6E, the Ultra runs Android 12 with My UX “for a personalized look at the things you do” and the 4,610mAh battery supports 125W fast wired charging for a day of juice in just seven minutes, plus 50W wireless charging and 10W power sharing.
The flagship also comes with edge lighting for instant visual notifications customized for things like messages and calls, and data protection is provided by Lenovo’s ThinkShield for Mobile technology.
The Edge 30 Ultra launches in Europe for a starting price of €899.99 (just over $900), with black or white colour options available.
Back in June, Samsung gave us first glimpse of the kind of craziness we can expect from a 200-megapixel smartphone camera sensor, and now Motorola is first to market with a real handset with an actual handset rocking a 200-MP rear camera – the flagship Edge 30 Ultra.
