Consumers are increasingly placing their telephone numbers on the Federal Trade Commission’s Do Not Call Registry as they complain of imposters and other scams, according to a new report.
The registry currently has 244.3 million active registrations, an increase of more than 2.8 million from the previous fiscal year, the FTC’s report showed.
The commission said telemarketing calls are on the rise amid advancements in calling technology, including voice over internet protocol, or VoIP, and spoofed caller ID.
