Wind Hellas expects its 4G/LTE network traffic to increase by 300 percent in the middle of the summer and reach a new record. The new record will be generated by subscribers and foreign guests roaming the company’s 4G/LTE network.
Wind expects both Greek and foreign visitors will spend talk time and abundant MB in order to share moments and capture the beauties of Greece, surf the internet through their mobile and, of course, use social media. YouTube is expected to be the most used social media service, the company said.
Wind said its network’s directorate-general is prepared for higher traffic demands by taking care to extend the 4G/LTE coverage and network availability across the territory. According to the forecasts of Wind’s National Network Management Center, the use of data will mainly rise in the Cyclades, followed by Mykonos, Paros and Santorini. Data traffic in the islands of the North Aegean is expected to increase the most in Samos.
In 2016, data usage increased by 99 percent in Mytilene, the capital of the Lesbos island, thanks to the new Wind 4G/LTE network on the island.
Wind’s 4G/LTE network coverage currently reaches 80 percent of its territory and nearly 100 percent in all major urban centres in the country, as well as in tourist attractions.
