Qualcomm has achieved a 5G data connection with a modem chipset designed for mobile devices.
“The Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem chipset delivered gigabit speeds and a data connection in the 28GHz millimetre wave radio frequency band,” said Qualcomm.
The company used several 100MHz carriers to achieve the speeds.
It also previewed its first 5G smartphone reference design for the testing and optimisation of 5G technology.
The 5G demonstration also used the SDR051 mmWave RF transceiver integrated circuit, and Keysight Technologies’ new 5G Protocol R&D Toolset and UXM 5G Wireless Test Platform.
