Boosting Telecoms Service with New Solutions – THISDAY Newspapers

The new measure adopted by telecoms operators to roll out innovative solutions will no doubt enhance subscribers’ experience in service offerings, writes Emma Okonji

In order to cushion the effect of the difficult times that subscribers are currently passing through, occasioned by the harsh economic climate of the country, licensed telecoms operators have continued to introduce value added services (VAS), that will put smiles on the faces of subscribers.

Globacom for instance, recently launched its VAS solutions known as Sharp Sharp E-top-Up and Glo Café, designed to ease subscriber experience and to boost service delivery on its network.

 

About Glo Sharp Sharp E-top-Up

The Glo Sharp Sharp E-top-Up is an offer which rewards Glo customers with eight times the value of their recharges when they recharge their lines through any electronic recharge channel like Glo Café, Online, Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and Point of Sales (POS) terminals.

This offer is available to all new and existing prepaid customers, who top up or recharge their phones through electronic recharge channels.

The VAS solution is available from any of electronic channels such as Glo Café App, Online – Gloworld.com, Quickteller, Konga, banking apps, ATMs, Gloworld and authorised Glo dealer outlets, various bank mobile apps and short codes, POS terminals in select retail mega stores, among others.

The solution enables customers to get eight times the value of recharges made with any E-top up amounts such as N101, N201, N501, N1001, N1501, N2001, N2501, N3001, N5001, N10001, N20001 and N50001.

 

 Glo Café

The Glo Café is over the top technology application (OTT), which is made from the amalgamation utility, self empowerment and entertainment genres of music, video, live TV, games, among others. The Self-care application is a complete 360-degree solution, which empowers subscribers to manage account with ease and authority. It comes with real-time voice and data balance enquiry. Customer can recharge and view recharge history with option to migrate to a tariff plan of choice; Option to buy and share data bundles and subscription of voice bundles; Subscription of all VAS products and services through a common window; All transaction details related to post-pay including bill amount due, last bill payments; Accessibility to contact call centre executives, raise service related requests, chat with agents, among others.

The solution is open to all Glo branded application available on iOS and Android, and it comes completely free.

The available payment channel for the solution is debit card and the application can work anywhere and on any network.

Developing new habits with new solutions 

The Glo solutions are designed to help customers drop old habit and develop new habits in line with modern trends. According to Globacom, the solutions would help many telephone users who are finding it difficult to drop the old habit of using physical recharge cards for the purpose of topping up their phone credits.

“They would either walk down the street to buy recharge cards, send an aide to buy for them or beckon on hawkers in traffic to purchase any denomination of the cards that they may desire. As convenient as this mode of recharge may seem to those who patronize it, the physical cards come with their own challenges. One is the issue of “over-scratching” which leaves the user facing some frustrations in a bid to get the missing digits of the recharge PIN from the network provider. The second one is the possibility of buying already used cards,” the telecoms company said.

However, it said that the electronic mode of recharge addresses these challenges and offers a very easy and convenient method of recharging phone lines.

“And if the subscriber needs extra incentive to try out the electronic recharge system, Globacom,  has given the added enticement with the launch of its Glo Sharp Sharp E-Top-Up,”it added.

Besides the convenience of electronic recharge, the network gives  subscribers eight times more credit whenever they recharge through electronic platforms.

“The product is not just  exciting, it is also very competitive. Aside from  Sharp Sharp E-Top-Up being the company’s way of simplifying recharge processes for its teeming subscribers, the  benefits of recharging via E-top up, are immense. They include convenience, speed of transfer as well as security of the transaction. For example, customers can recharge at any time and from anywhere in the world. Speaking at the recent launch of the solutions, Senior Manager, Events and Sponsorships for Globacom, Sola Mogaji, said the exciting products would ensure that a subscriber who recharges via E-top up with specific amounts, would be credited with eight times the value recharged.

Mogaji said benefits of the product “include convenience, speed of transfer as well as security of the transaction. For example, customers can recharge at any time and from anywhere in the world. They can avoid cash transactions and hassles of looking for “change” as any amount can be purchased via E-top up whether for voice calls or data usage. Also, subscription can be made for any data package of a subscriber’s choice through the same avenue.”

He explained further that if the subscriber recharges with N201, he or she will get over N1,601 made up of N201 in his or her main account, N100 bonus airtime for calls to all networks and N900 bonus airtime to call other Glo subscribers. In addition, customers will receive 50MB data bonus for personal use and extra 25MB data, which can be transferred as gift to another Glo customer.

The benefits

Mogaji disclosed that the solutions are the greatest applications ever launched in the Nigerian market. “The key highlights include real-time voice and data balance enquiry; freedom to  recharge and  view recharge history with option to migrate to a tariff plan of choice; option to buy  and  share data bundles as well as purchase of voice bundles. According to him, in addition to the self-service capabilities, Glo Café offers Africa’s largest digital content library for entertainment with world-class gaming on the go; thousands of high definition movies and videos, over two million songs,  over 10,000 videos  music videos, jokes, sports and entertainment.

He noted that the  biggest attraction of Glo café is the Glo Live Cast, “where we proudly stamp  our authority as the first operator in Nigeria to launch Mobile TV (Glo live cast). Now, our subscribers can watch  live TV channels such as NTA, AIT, WAP TV and others with high definition quality streaming on their  Glo mobile phones.”

The two new products offer a lot of opportunities and value for Glo subscribers. The Glo Sharp Sharp E-Top is not only in line with government’s effort towards entrenching a cashless society, but it is also richly rewarding for the subscriber. For just N201 recharge, the customer gets N1,608 credit plus 25MB of data.
