WSU's new mobile app now available systemwide – WSU News

The new WSU Mobile application for portable devices can now be downloaded by WSU students, faculty and staff on all campuses. It is available through both the Apple App Store and Google Play.

WSU Mobile provides fast access to key resources for student success. Mobile friendly tools available through the app include Blackboard and myWSU, as well as apps and links such as GET, Navigate Student (formerly Guide), WSU Athletics and more.

“What we are introducing is an eco-system,” offered Sasi Pillay, vice president and chief information officer of Information Technology Services (ITS), “where WSU resources and tools are effortlessly accessible all in one place, further supporting student success.”

This app is an alpha, or first edition, and ITS continues to evaluate potential design improvements with the following priorities in mind:

  • Identifying the individual as “belonging” to a certain campus and present only those options relevant to that person at that campus
  • Provide tiles possibly customized by individual users.

“Our long-term vision is to make this ecosystem easier to use and customizable by individual users to meet their unique needs,” said Pillay.

The tools available through WSU Mobile reflect systemwide services so students and guests at all campuses can enjoy the benefits of a single point of mobile access to numerous university resources, and participation in this new student success tool is expected to grow as more WSU departments and offices join the new app.

As part of WSU Mobile’s implementation, both the original WSU and myWSU mobile apps will no longer be necessary and will be removed from Apple and android app stores by Feb. 22.

Please note: When downloading WSU Mobile, users need to be aware that other WSU apps accessed through WSU Mobile do require downloading in order to access them from your phone, so storage needs on smart phones are not reduced. If users see a message indicating they need to download the selected app, this is a valid message indicating the requested link is requires downloading.
