Telia Norway says roaming data use rises 40% in July compared with last year

Telia Norway said that its customers used 40 percent more roaming internet in July than they had in the same month in 2017. The most mobile roaming data was used in Sweden, followed by Spain in second place and Denmark third. Head of private markets Kjersti Jamne said its customers now use their phone when abroad in exactly the same way as they would at home in Norway.

Greece was the fourth most popular travel destination and Italy fifth. Poland came sixth, followed by Croatia in seventh place, France eighth, Germany ninth and the UK tenth.

Telia said this summer had seen a strong rise in purchases of its Data Boost short-term bundles, launched in winter. Customers can bolt on 1 hour’s unlimited data for NOK 19 or three hours’ worth for NOK 39.

Jamne said there had been a 33 percent increase in mobile data use in Norway in July.
