SFR said that its LTE network covered nearly 98 percent of the French population as of 01 October. This compares with the 98.3 percent population coverage reported by rival Orange for the third quarter. The operator also announced that its 500 Mbps LTE-Advance service has gone live in the city of Toulon after launching in Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille and Saint-Etienne earlier this year.
Close to 450 new municipalities saw the arrival of SFR’s LTE services during September, while over 300 moved to LTE-Advanced. Among them, sixteen additional French towns were upgraded to theoretical download speeds of 300 Mbps.
