Within three months of the launch of the flagship OnePlus 6 smartphone, the Chinese smartphone brand has confirmed that it going to launch the OnePlus 6T in India soon. The OnePlus 6T smartphone will be exclusively available on e-commerce website Amazon.in. Going by the strategy of the company, its seems that OnePlus will most likely discontinue the OnePlus 6 soon after the launch of the upcoming OnePlus 6T.
The OnePlus 6T will not come with the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. There will be a similar USB Type-C port that will serve as charging, data transfer and headphone port. It is worth adding that less than a year ago OnePlus CEO Pete Lau boasted in a blog post that 3.5mm headphone jack is going nowhere from OnePlus smartphones. He said that 3.5mm headphone delivered better audio quality and was not worth the trade-off. However, there might a shift in some strategy as the company has recently launched USB Type-C based Bullets earphones.
Apart from the headphone jack, OnePlus is reportedly also ditching the fingerprint scanner in favour of an in-display fingerprint sensor. It will be the company’s first smartphone to feature the technology. Till date, only few handsets boast of the under display finger sensor that include Vivo NEX, Vivo V11 Pro, Vivo X21, Oppo R17 and Oppo R17 Pro.
As for the other specifications are concerned, the OnePlus 6T smartphone is said to come with the 6.28-inch full HD+ Optic AMOLED screen and is said to be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. Also, OnePlus might launch the OnePlus 6T with Android 9.0 Pie operating system out-of-the-box.
OnePlus hasn’t confirmed any launch date yet for the OnePlus 6T. However, the company will most likely launch it before the festive season kickstarts in India by mid-October.
