Nokia has been challenging the JioPhone that launched last year with its own Nokia 8810 4G feature phone. After the slew of launches yesterday at the Reliance AGM, that included an update for the pre-existing JioPhone that included support for popular apps WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube.
Now HMD Global that handle the Nokia brand, has teased that Nokia will be taking after KaiOS that runs the JioPhone and release an update that will allow the Nokia 8810 4G to run WhatsApp.
The hint came from HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas who tweeted about the support for WhatsApp for KaiOS and said, “Oh look, #Whatsapp on #KaiOS! Looking forward to going (banana)s!”

Experts believe that this is a definite indication that the Nokia 8810 4G which is also known as Banana Phone is about to get the same. And this makes sense because Nokia has been targeting the same segment of the crowd with its feature phone that Reliance has been with its JioPhone.
The Nokia 8810 4G is called the Banana Phone because the phone has a flap that slides out to make the phone look like a banana. The phone was promoted in its bright yello color and the company seemed to go along with the nomenclature.
Nokia 8110 4G features a 2.45 inches QVGA display. The Nokia 8110 4G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 205 Dual Core 1.1 GHz OS paired with a 512MB of ROM and 4GB of RAM. In the photography department, a 2-megapixel rear camera. Other connectivity options include FM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and 4G LTE with VoLTE.
