Brazilian operator Nextel has decided to increase capex at the end of the year in preparation for growth expected in 2019, reports Teletime. Company president Roberto Rittes said the additional investment will be focused on refarming the 2.1 GHz band in the interior of the state of Sao Paulo, leaving half for 3G and half for 4G. He added that the sum earmarked for refarming will be between BRL 5 million and BRL 10 million.
Rittes also said that Nextel has the option to convert iDEN in the 800 MHz band to SMP frequencies, an operation approved by Anatel in 2015.
