We demand the most sophisticated electronic instrumentation in our transportation systems — and, with so much else. In so doing, we turn over personal control to machines. Sadly, we’ve never been taught or learned the basic underlying mechanical concepts.
A solid understanding is necessary to, number one: initially be able to comprehend and tackle these tasks on our own. Then to, number two: apply them and then create safe instrumentation. Sounds like the time is right to jump into self-driving cars. Then we can sit back and safely relax — putting our fate in the hands of a machine. Note: In my argument, I detect a direct political analogy to be made.
