The adult male was caught late Monday or early Tuesday in a trap set up Saturday near Sullivan Trail, said state Game Commission Officer Brad Kreider.
“It’s pretty big,” Kreider said Wednesday ahead of the bear’s official tagging and weighing that evening. After that, the animal — which has not been tagged before — will be released somewhere far away, the officer said.
It’s unusual around the Easton area to see such a burly bruin, which Kreider said has been the subject of calls to his office since an abnormally warm February.
The bear caused no damage beyond the bird feeders and garbage cans it broke into for food, he said.
