Everyone wants the greatest and latest results when they purchase new products, be it a new car, television or smartphone. We want similar results from our laptops as well but when should we give in and buy a new laptop? It can get difficult to determine whether your laptop is in its last phase or simply needs some repair. This is the reason why we have listed a few important signs which indicate its time you go laptop shopping.
- When the laptop slows down:
A slow functioning laptop is majorly an indication of it aging when you do not have any hackers or malware in your device. Laptops generally slow down when multiple apps run at the same time or when their memory begins filling up.
At times, upgrades or repairs to the RAM or CPU may help a toiling laptop regain its speed. In fact, this measure should be taken into consideration before you replace your struggling laptop.
However, if your laptop is slow at a point where it gets difficult to work on it then the repair may end costing you same as one new laptop. As such, it’s best to upgrade and get yourself a brand-new laptop.
- When the laptop doesn’t support new software updates anymore:
How old is the current laptop you are using? Your laptop should cater to your needs for more than three years from the day you bought it. However, you might find that you cannot receive software updates over time, including your OS (operating system).
The technology in the computer system advances with time and the new software updates need better processing capability to function. It’s possible that these new updates may not arrive on your laptop at all because they need a lot of memory to run.
Your system might be incapable to process these updates at that level. Here, it is best to replace your laptop with a new system which is up-to-date with new software and much faster.
- When the battery loses charge faster:
Laptop batteries, just like mobile phone batteries, lose out their charge with continuous use. Over time, the battery may even lose its charge retaining capacity. This implies that you will need to charge your laptop often.
There may even come a point where you will have to keep the laptop plugged in at all time to use it. In such a case, you can buy a new battery for your laptop to make it work. However, buying batteries for slip laptops from companies like Apple can make it an expensive venture for you.
But if your laptop still has charging issues when you put a new battery, it could be a sign that it is time to buy a new system. The issue may lie internally in the laptop and the repairs could be a lot expensive or rather impossible even.
Therefore, if your laptop is encountering any of the above signs, you may want to buy a new laptop. However, remember to shop wisely and buy a laptop which meets your needs.
