ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – An Ormond Beach homeowner said she’s come home to some unexpected visitors.
Laurel Gaddy has lived in her Ormond Beach home for the last 15 years, and in the past six months, she has noticed coyotes taking over her neighborhood.
Gaddy says the coyotes are big.
She said they come out during the day and have blocked her driveway.
“It’s concerning that they can’t remove them or relocate them at this point,” Gaddy said.
Gaddy told News 6 her concern is people may confuse the coyote for a dog and approach them.
Ormond Beach Police released a public safety announcement today urging citizens to not approach the wild animals and to keep an eye out for smaller pets.
According to Florida Fish and Wildlife, the coyote population is increasing and officials do not have the power to relocate all of them.
FWC told News 6 if you see a coyote to not go near it; instead call a trapper to get it removed.
