Game developer and publisher Blizzard Entertainment plans to release all of its gaming titles on the mobile platform. Mobile gaming has seen a surge over the past few years and the company plans to cash in on it by converting more of its games for the mobile platform.
“In terms of Blizzard’s approach to mobile gaming, many of us over the last few years have shifted from playing primarily desktop to playing many hours on mobile, and we have many of our best developers now working on new mobile titles across all of our IPs,” said Allen Adham, Blizzard’s executive producer, during the company’s annual convention BlizzCon 2018, as per a Reddit user.
“Some of them are with external partners, like Diablo Immortal; many of them are being developed internally only, and we’ll have information to share on those in the future. I will say also that we have more new products in development today at Blizzard than we’ve ever had in our history and our future is very bright.”
Blizzard’s gaming line-up includes franchises like Warcraft, Starcraft, Overwatch and Diablo. If these were going to be introduced on mobile, the company may be able to give strong competition to other established mobile games.
Blizzard recently announced the mobile title of its Diablo series called Diablo Immortal. The newly launched Diablo Immortal is a sequel to Diablo II and prequel to Diablo III. The mobile title focuses on some characters of the series and their adventures between Diablo II and III.
Many Diablo fans were not too happy with the new mobile title after its announcement as they were hoping that Blizzard would announce Diablo IV as the new game. However, all hope is not yet lost as the company is planning to update the Diablo series with more titles and not all of them are intended for the mobile platform.
